सफेद और लाल आक के बारे में:
सफेद आक के नाम: अलर्क, गणरूप, मन्दार, वसुक, श्वेतपुष्प, सदापुष्प, सवालार्क और प्रतायस—ये सफेद फूल वाले आक के नाम हैं।
लाल आक के नाम: दूसरा लाल फूल वाला आक होता है, जिसे अर्क, अर्कपर्ण, विकीरण, रक्तपुष्प, शुक्लफल और स्फोट कहा गया है।
दोनों प्रकार के आक के गुण: दोनों प्रकार के आक मल को बाहर निकालने वाले/रेचक होते हैं। ये वात दोष, त्वचा रोग, खुजली, विष, घाव, प्लीहा (तिल्ली के रोग), गुल्म (वायु का गोला), बवासीर, कफ जनित उदर रोग, और मल के कीड़ों का नाश करते हैं।
सफेद आक के फूल के गुण: सफेद आक का फूल बलवीर्यवर्धक, पचने में हल्का, दीपन (भूख बढ़ाने वाला) और पाचन होता है। यह भूख न लगना, मुंह से अत्यधिक लार आना, बवासीर, खांसी और श्वास का निवारण करता है।
लाल आक के फूल के गुण: लाल आक का फूल मधुर और थोड़ा कड़वा होता है। यह कुष्ठ रोग, कीड़ों और कफ को नष्ट करने वाला है। यह बवासीर, विष और रक्तपित्त को हरता है। यह मल को बांधने वाला है तथा गुल्म और सूजन में बहुत हितकारी है।
आक के दूध के गुण: आक का दूध कड़वा, गर्म, स्निग्ध (चिकना), थोड़ा नमकीन और लघु (हल्का) होता है। यह कुष्ठ रोग, गुल्म और पेट के रोगों को नष्ट करने वाला है और इसे एक श्रेष्ठ विरेचन (दस्त लगाकर पेट साफ करने वाली औषधि) माना गया है।
