अगर (अगरु) के बारे में:
पर्यायवाची: अगरु, प्रवर, लोह, राजार्ह, योगज, वंशिक, कृमिज, कृमिजग्ध और अनार्यक—ये अगर के पर्यायवाची नाम हैं।
गुण और प्रभाव: अगर की तासीर गर्म होती है। यह स्वाद में तीखा और कड़वा, त्वचा के लिए लाभकारी , स्वभाव में तीक्ष्ण, और पित्त दोष को बढ़ाने वाला होता है।
रोग निवारण: यह पचने में हल्का होता है। यह कान और आँखों के रोगों का नाश करता है, तथा शीत , वात और कफ जनित विकारों का शमन करता है।
काले अगर (कृष्णागुरु) की पहचान: जो अगर काले रंग का होता है (कृष्णागुरु), वह गुणों में सबसे अधिक श्रेष्ठ होता है और भारी होने के कारण लोहे के समान पानी में डूब जाता है।
अगर का तेल: अगर की लकड़ी से निकाला गया तेल औषधीय गुणों में श्रेष्ठ काले अगर (कृष्णागुरु) के ही समान माना गया है।

Synonyms: Aguru, Pravara, Loha, Rajarha, Yogaja, Vamshika, Krimija, Krimijagdha, and Anaryaka are its synonyms.
Properties & Actions: Agaru is hot in potency . It is pungent and bitter in taste, highly beneficial for the skin , penetrating/sharp and it aggravates Pitta dosha.
Indications: It is light to digest .It cures diseases of the ears and eyes, and effectively pacifies ailments caused by cold , Vata, and Kapha doshas.
Black Agarwood (Krishnaguru): The black variety of Agarwood is considered superior in its qualities. Because of its density and heaviness, it sinks in water just like iron.
Agarwood Oil: The oil extracted from Agaru is stated to possess the exact same medicinal properties as the superior black Agarwood (Krishnaguru).
