परिचय: अब आमलकी (आंवला) के नाम और गुण बताते हैं।
नाम: इसे तीनों लिंगों में आमलक कहा जाता है, तथा इसके अन्य नाम धात्री, तिष्यफला और अमृता हैं।
गुण: आंवले के फल के गुण हरीतकी (हरड़) के समान ही होते हैं, परंतु विशेष रूप से यह रक्तपित्त (रक्तस्राव) और प्रमेह (urinary disorders) का नाश करने वाला है। यह (अत्यंत पुष्टिकारक और रसायन (आयु वर्धक) है।
त्रिदोषनाशक: यह अपने अम्ल (खट्टे) गुण के कारण 'वात' को, अपनी मधुरता (मिठास) और शीतलता (ठंडी तासीर) के कारण 'पित्त' को, तथा अपने रूक्ष (सूखे) और कषाय (कसैले) गुण के कारण 'कफ' को नष्ट करता है। इस प्रकार आंवले का फल तीनों दोषों (त्रिदोष) को जीतने वाला (है।
गुठली (मज्जा) के गुण: जिस-जिस फल का जैसा-जैसा वीर्य (प्रभाव/तासीर) होता है, उस फल की मज्जा (गुठली के अंदर की गिरी) का प्रभाव भी उसी के समान जानना चाहिए।
