अम्लवेत (अम्लवेतस) के बारे में:
पर्यायवाची: अम्लवेतस, चुक्र, शतवेधि, और सहस्रनुत् — ये इसके पर्यायवाची नाम हैं।
गुण:- अम्लवेत अत्यधिक खट्टा , भेदन (मल को तोड़ने वाला/पेट साफ करने वाला), पचने में हल्का और जठराग्नि या भूख को बढ़ाने वाला होता है।
प्रभाव और रोग निवारण:- यह हृदय रोग, शूल (पेट दर्द) और गुल्म (वायु के गोले) का नाश करता है। यह पित्त को बढ़ाने वाला और (अत्यधिक खट्टा होने के कारण) रोंगटे खड़े करने वाला) होता है।
यह सूखा होता है, मल-मूत्र के दोषों को दूर करता है, तथा तिल्ली के रोग और मल-मूत्र आदि का वेग रोकने से होने वाले रोग का नाशक है।
यह हिचकी , पेट फूलना , भूख न लगना , श्वास (दमा), कास (खांसी), अजीर्ण (अपच) और उल्टी को दूर करता है।
यह कफ और वात से होने वाले रोगों का नाश करता है। यह बकरे के मांस को (पकाते समय) जल्दी गलाने वाला होता है।
इसके गुण चने के अम्ल (खट्टेपन) के समान जानने चाहिए, और यह इतना तीक्ष्ण होता है कि लोहे की सुई को भी गला देने की क्षमता रखता है।

Properties:- Amlavetasa is excessively sour (Atyamla), a purgative/mass-breaking laxative (Bhedana), light to digest (Laghu), and it kindles the digestive fire (Deepana).
Indications & Actions- It cures heart diseases, colic pain and abdominal tumors. It increases Pitta dosha and causes horripilation/goosebumps (due to its extreme sourness).
It is dry , cures disorders related to feces and urine, and destroys splenic disorders and diseases caused by the upward movement of Vata .
It relieves hiccups , abdominal distension , anorexia , asthma/dyspnea , cough , indigestion and vomiting .
It completely destroys diseases caused by Kapha and Vata doshas, and has the specific property of tenderizing/dissolving goat meat (when cooked together).
Its properties should be understood to be similar to the sourness of chickpeas (Chanakamla), and its acidic nature is so piercing that it can even dissolve an iron needle.
