अब लोक (संसार) में जो 'चोबचीनी' नाम से प्रसिद्ध है, उसके गुणों का वर्णन किया जाता है। आयुर्वेद में इसे 'द्वीपान्तरवचा' (दूसरे देश या द्वीप से आई हुई वचा) भी कहा जाता है।
गुण और उपयोग:
स्वभाव: यह स्वाद में थोड़ी कड़वी , तासीर में गर्म और जठराग्नि को बढ़ाने वाली होती है।
पाचन और शुद्धि: यह कब्ज (विबन्ध), पेट फूलना और पेट दर्द का नाश करती है। यह मल और मूत्र को शुद्ध करने वाली है।
रोग निवारण: यह वात रोगों, अपस्मार (मिर्गी), उन्माद (मानसिक विकार / पागलपन) और शरीर की पीड़ा को दूर करती है। विशेष रूप से यह 'फिरंग रोग' (सिफलिस / Syphilis) को जड़ से नष्ट करने
वाली (फिरङ्गामयनाशिनी) मानी गई है।
