अब गजपिप्पली (गजपीपल) के नामों और गुणों का वर्णन किया जाता है।
विद्वानों (प्राज्ञों) के द्वारा चव्य (चविका) के फल को ही गजपिप्पली कहा गया है। कपिवल्ली, कोलवल्ली, श्रेयसी और वशिर—ये इसके अन्य नाम (पर्यायवाची) हैं।
स्वभाव: गजकृष्णा (गजपीपल) स्वाद में कटु (तीखी) होती है। यह वात और श्लेष्म (कफ) दोषों को हरने वाली , तथा जठराग्नि (पाचन शक्ति) को बढ़ाने वाली होती है।
रोग निवारण: इसकी तासीर गर्म होती है। यह अतिसार (दस्त/डायरिया), श्वास (दमा/सांस के रोग), गले के रोगों और कृमि (पेट के कीड़ों) का नाश करती है।
