सामान्य गुण और प्रभाव: कपास का पौधा पचने में हल्का , तासीर में हल्का , स्वाद में मधुर (मीठा) और वात दोष का नाश करने वाला होता है।
पत्तों के गुण (तत्पलाशं): इसके पत्ते वात दोष को हरने वाले ,शरीर में रक्त का निर्माण करने वाले और मूत्र की मात्रा को बढ़ाने वाले ( Diuretic) होते हैं।
पत्तों के उपयोग / रोगनाशक क्षमता: इसके पत्तों का प्रयोग कान की पीड़ा/फुंसियों , कान में बजने वाले शब्दों (Tinnitus) और कान से बहने वाले मवाद को पूरी तरह नष्ट करता है।
बीजों के गुण (तद्बीजं): कपास के बीज स्तनपान कराने वाली माताओं में दूध बढ़ाने वाले , वीर्यवर्धक , स्निग्ध , कफ दोष को उत्पन्न करने वाले और पचने में भारी होते हैं।

General Properties: The cotton plant is light to digest , mildly hot in potency , sweet in taste , and acts as a destroyer of the Vata dosha .
Properties of the Leaves (Tat palasham): Its leaves effectively pacify the Vata dosha ,promote blood formation/increase blood volume , and act as a diuretic that increases urine output .
Therapeutic Indications of the Leaves: The use of its leaves successfully completely eradicates earaches/boils in the ear , ringing in the ears/tinnitus , and purulent discharge or pus coming from the ear .
Properties of the Seeds (Tad beejam): The cotton seeds are galactagogues that promote breast milk production . They are aphrodisiac , unctuous/oily , aggravate or increase the Kapha dosha , and are heavy to digest .
