पलाश (ढाक) के पर्यायवाची (नाम): पलाश, किंशुक, पर्ण, यज्ञिय, रक्तपुष्पक, क्षारश्रेष्ठ, वातहर, ब्रह्मवृक्ष और समिद्वर—ये पलाश के नाम हैं।
पलाश (छाल/सामान्य) के औषधीय गुण: सामान्य गुण: पलाश दीपन (पाचन अग्नि को बढ़ाने वाला), वृष्य (बलकारक/शुक्रवर्धक), सर (मल को आगे धकेलने वाला) और तासीर में उष्ण (गर्म) होता है। यह स्वाद में कषाय (कसैला), कटु (तीखा) और तिक्त (कड़वा) तथा गुणों में स्निग्ध (चिकना) होता है।

प्रभाव: इसके फूल स्वाद में स्वादु (मधुर/मीठे) होते हैं, परन्तु विपाक (पचने पर) में कटु, तिक्त और कषाय हो जाते हैं। ये वात दोष को बढ़ाने वाले , ग्राही (मल को बांधने वाले) और तासीर में शीतल होते हैं।
उपयोग: ये कफ, पित्त, रक्त विकार और मूत्रकृच्छ्र/पेशाब की कठिनाई को नष्ट करते हैं। ये प्यास और दाह (जलन) को शांत करते हैं और वातरक्त (गठिया) तथा कुष्ठ (त्वचा रोगों) को दूर करने में परम माने गए हैं।
पलाश के फल (बीज) के गुण: पलाश का फल पचने में हल्का और तासीर में गर्म होता है। विपाक (पचने के बाद) में यह कटु (तीखा) और सूखा होता है। यह मेह (प्रमेह/मूत्र रोग), अर्श (बवासीर), कृमि, वात और कफ का नाश करता है, तथा कुष्ठ (त्वचा रोगों), गुल्म और उदर (पेट) के रोगों को दूर करता है।

Properties and Uses of Palash (Bark/General):
General Qualities: Palash is appetizer/stimulates digestion, aphrodisiac, laxative/promotes movement, and hot in potency. It is astringent , pungent and bitter taste, and unctuous in quality.
Therapeutic Effects: It cures wounds/ulcers and abdominal tumors. It destroys anorectal diseases (Gudajaroga like piles). It promotes the union of fractured bones and effectively eradicates vitiated doshas, malabsorption syndrome, (hemorrhoids), and worm infestations.
Properties of Palash Flowers (Pushpam):
Qualities: The flowers are sweet in taste but pungent ,bitter and astringent in their post-digestive effect . They aggravate Vata dosha, astringent, and cold in potency .
Therapeutic Effects: They conquer vitiated Kapha, Pitta, blood disorders and dysuria/difficulty in urination . They pacify excessive thirst and burning sensation and are supreme in curing gout and skin diseases .
