अब शिलारस (सिल्हक) के विषय में:
सिल्हक को 'तुरुष्क' कहा जाता है क्योंकि यह यवन देश (तुर्की/अरब क्षेत्र) में उत्पन्न होता है। इसे 'कपितैल' और 'कपि' के नाम से भी जाना जाता है।
सिल्हक रस में कटु (तीखा) और स्वादु (मधुर) होता है। यह स्निग्ध (चिकना), उष्ण (गर्म तासीर वाला), और शुक्र (वीर्य) तथा कान्ति (चमक) को बढ़ाने वाला होता है। यह वृष्य (कामोद्दीपक) तथा कण्ठ्य (गले के लिए हितकारी) है; और यह अधिक पसीना (स्वेद), कुष्ठ रोग, ज्वर (बुखार), दाह (जलन), तथा ग्रहों (ग्रह बाधा) का नाश करने वाला होता है।

Silhaka is known as Turushka because it originates from the Yavana country (historical reference to Ionia/Greece/Turkey/Arabia). It is also known by the names Kapitaila and Kapi.
Silhaka is pungent and sweet in taste. It is unctuous , hot in potency and enhances semen/vitality and bodily luster . It is an aphrodisiac , beneficial for the throat , and cures excess sweating , skin diseases , fever , burning sensation and afflictions by evil spirits .
